Private Consultation
Dr. Lara Honos-Webb is a licensed psychologist in California (license number 17980). She offers psychotherapy including telephone sessions to residents of California. Her main areas of practice include:
See The Gift of ADHD for her approach to treating children and families with ADHD.
Many Health Complaints or Serious Illnesses can become portals to increased self-understanding and radical self-transformation. We will work with symptoms rather than against them to hear what messages your symptoms have for directing your life path.
Mainstream psychotherapies overlook the dramatic significance of pregnancy and birthing on women. Women must confront many issues during pregnancy and birthing including their relationship with their own mother, their marital relationship, their body image and sexuality. All of these issues and more must be successfully negotiated to make a healthy transition into mothering. I view pregnancy and birthing as a "critical period" for women's mental health. Unresolved issues that are evoked during these transitions can be worked through impacting a healthy psychological development for the rest of her life.
Depression is a call to transform your life. If you want to feel better without making life changes, I am not the psychologist for you. If you are willing to do what it takes to put depression behind you forever, I will work with you to clarify the changes that need to be made and to coach you through how to love yourself through dramatic life changes.

Benefits of Telephone Therapy: 1) Research shows it can be as or more effective than face-to-face therapy. See for one recent example, August 25 issue of JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association. (JAMA. 2004; 292:935-942) 2) No waiting rooms! 3) No lengthy commutes to therapist office. 4) The ultimate in privacy. Great for individuals seeking help, but may not feel comfortable meeting one-on-one with a therapist 5) You may feel more comfortable revealing yourself with the increased anonymity provided by the telephone. 6) Perfect for individuals who cannot leave their home or office or easily travel to an in-office visit 7) Perfect for individuals who simply don't have the time to commute to in-office sessions, travel frequently or are always on the road 8) Therapy by Phone allows you to conduct your therapy session wherever you feel comfortable and whenever is convenient 9) Therapy by Phone
offers effective, discreet solutions for individuals who may not want to seek
counseling in their local community
